Research and application of the desulfurization technology based on dry activated coke method began almost 40 years ago in Germany, Japan and the US. 120×104m³/h desulfurization plants based on activated coke method, 300MW desulfurization and denitration plants and 600MW activated coke dry FGD plants are available abroad.
In 2008 SPC introduced the globally advanced dry desulfurization technology based on activated coke method (convection) from WKV, a German company and improved it for application to high volumes of flue gas from coal-fired power plants according to realities of coal-fired power plants in China, especially in uniform distribution of high-volume flue gas, automatic distribution of activated coke layers and automated collection of saturated activated coke. This improvement has led to independent IPR owned by SPC.
